I have been reading some food blogs lately.
Oooo lalallaa what mouth watering recipes...
When I read them , ofcourse i get all charged up to cook them.. But well since I am usually at work and home is a good 20 kms away, i cant rush...
BUt hey you must be thinking that i am an avid lover of cooking. Instead I am not!!!
I love food , yeah I do.
I dont love cooking though. at least not like my hubby. He is forever trying out stuff.
Actually you should see my recipe collection. I must be having atleast a million recipes in print and byte format. ;-)
But have i tried all of them? honestly no.
My hubby calls me "Sukhi Jeevi" . I just wanna enjoy and my luck is such that I need to be worried about coooking much.
But hey that doesnt mean that what i cook is a disaster!!! Naa never. When i cook , the dishes do turn out great. Yup my hubby smacking his lips and licking his fingers is proof enough. But yeah i do lack that zest to try new stuff often. I am very moodyyyyyyyyyyy.
and hey on that note, must tell you that My hubby is starting a food blog....
Nowwwwwwwww dont say "What???? one more Blog"!!!!!!
Dont you dare.. grrrrrrrrrrrr
Krish is going to put up Konkani recipes mostly.. but yeah he is gonna dabble in other stuff.
wanna read? goto http://thecookinghabit.blogger.com

I feel pretty, O so Pretty..
Yeah I am crooning this song today
I feel pretty
Oh so pretty
I feel pretty and witty and gay
And I pity
Any girl who isn't me today
(You want the full lyrics? Go here -> http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/West-Side-Story/I-Feel-Pretty.html)
And hey why am I so jovial today.
Coz I am wearing a stunning dress today.
Yeah , I waxed my legs over the weekend.
and hence could wear any thing that could show off my legs ;-)
My friend Geena SMSed me yesterday saying tht she wanted to wear a skirt she just bought and could I give her company. And yeah its like requesting a bear to drink honey !!!! I JUMPED TO it.
I had recently purchased some superb skirts
a Fishtail skirt, a Kneelegth umbrella skirt, a jeans skirt (yeah all that cost me 3 grand!!!)
SO here was a chance to flaunt the skirts.
I wore the Black Kneelegth umbrella skirt and teamed it with a pretty red top with an almost plunging neckline.
Yeah I wore this on a non casual working day.. :)
Krish was like OOOOOOOOOOOOOOo la laaaaaaaaaaaa.. Your look too good to eattttttttttttttt.
(blush blush)
and I did get a lot of stares.... (blush blush again)
and my colleagues(read male colleagues) were like Hey shraddha you look different today.. (guess thats a near compliment that a boy can hazard now that I am married :) )
My Day was great!!! I was veryyyyy much on the cloud nine. I was just happy with myself. you know that feeling :-)
The only dampner was that I Couldnt click a snap :(
Will do so soon..

Height of Stupidity -> Embarrassment
So my cousin's (K) hubby (H) had come down from the States and we were out shopping with him.
We went to this two storeyed shop specialising in garments.. As i got busy trying to pick out good stuff for his duaghter N, he and kris wer busy
searching for good Tshirts for H. After sometime Bil went upstairs and came back empty handed. I had already picked up a few pieces for N . i
couldnt take the apathy of not finding anything for H so I asked him, presuming that he was out searching for Tshirts...
Me: Oh , Didnt you get anything upstairs?
H: No...(a bit shy look) they didnt have my brand..
Me(puzzled) : They didnt is it? What brand is it?
H(hesitating) : Crystal...
I was puzzled, Crystal? I never heard of Crystal T Shirts!!! Now...
After we had finished the billling, Kris who has heard this conversation asked me once home
Kris: What do u think Crystal is?
Me: Obviously a Tshirt Brand thta i hadnt heard about!! I thot i knew them all!!
Kris (grinning) : Actually the Upstairs section is a innerwear section...
Me : WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Now that was embarrassing!! in my want to help H in his shopping i didnt realise that he was out looking for innerwear apart from T shirts, and
there i was discussing his "brand" !!!!

I am lucky.. O so Lucky..
Yes I am a very lucky person. Everything and everybody who matters in my life are because I am lucky.
So What all am I lucky in?
No 1: Family
The most important thing in a person's life is her family. I have been blessed with two wonderful parents, a wonder ful sister and now a wonderful husband.
My childhood was very happy. There have been ups and downs as are there in any families, but nothing that should be considered degrading or totally destabilising. My parents loved me and my sis immensely. They never pampered us but we never lacked anything. My mom was a house wife till we reached a manageable age. She took up teaching because It was a half-a-day job and she could be home to look after us when we are back from school. My father though his looks stern was never a tyrant. Mom would scold us when we were naughty but Papa never did. We were a loving family . We adored and in turn were adored by our parents.
My sis, though younger to me has always been a friend, confidant and at times a pillar.
My Hubby is a darling. He is what every girl wants in Mr. Right.
No 2: School
I studied in a convent school. It was great!! A very healthy Co-ed school with the right mixture of people. The teachers were good . It instiled a strict dicsipline in us but we still had the freedom we required. We were encouraged in our extra cirricular activities as well as academics. Of couse I had a few bad experiences with two wicked teachers. But apart from them School was great.
No 3: Friends
I had good friends. Of course i had my share of "friends" who turned our to be foes hurting my feelings, backstabing and whatever else. But I weigh it this way.. I today have more good friends whom I remember and feel good about.
No 4: Work
Every place I worked, I had a good rapport with my peers and superiors. I learnt many things and am happy I was able to contribute to their progress.
Other significant things in my life are really significant because they have all affected me in the positive.
When I wake up everyday, I realise that I am going to start a happy day.
And when i Go to bed every night, I know that the day was a special and happy day.
Yeah this doesnt mean that I do not have my tensions, worries, sad moments and stuff. Its just that when I look around and see people's lives, I cannot help but accept that I am LUCKY.
I am Lucky and God I Thank you for this lovely life.

On BDC IDOL
In my earlier post I mentioned that I was the runner up in the BDC IDOL event.
I have had many a people asking me to elaborate on that.
OK.. so my workplace has a music club and this music club organised this event BDC IDOL much in the same lines as INDIAN IDOL.
here we had three judges and hence there was a jury award and of course the audience vote.
I was the runner up for the Jury Award :( I was soooo sure i would win!!! coz i was very sure of my song, my swaras and my rythm. ne ways...
I was sure tht i wouldnt get the audience vote. After all none one from my project turned up. (I blame it on the location of the event. It was held in our Sarjapur office!!! )
SO what did i get?
Some voucher and listen to this.. an invitation to join an events company the CEO of which was one of the judges. Great naaaa.
So eventually Alls Well That Ends Well !!!
BTW here is the video

On Music and BDC IDOL
I was just reading some blogs. The bloggers were retelling their experiences in the US.
Some of them wrote about how they had periodic musical concerts where they actually realised the value of their musical talents. many of them have confessed that before that they hadnt given the skils much thought and actually stopped practising and stuff.
This has set me thinking.
I am a proficient Harmonium player. My gurus and contemporaries have often excalimed on my skill. my fingers had great speed. my renditions of the ragas were melodious yet with the appropriate mixture of tanas, murkis and alaps. I have given many a solo performances and won many a national level trophies.
For all this i must thank my mother, after all it was she who saw to it that talent of mine was refined, forced me to riyaz (yeah tht age, tv and novels were more interesting!!)
After i joined the work force, my musical interest took a back step. No i didnt lose any interest in music, i still do. But under the pretext of "no time" practices dwindled.
I still give performances today. The audience is still avowed with my classical renditions.
I have had many a aspirants asking me to teach them music.
but again i have escaped saying - no time.
I guess i need to rethink....
after all this is a skill which is much coveted. Not everyone is blessed with the "swara" and "tala" dnyaana. i must not lose my talent...
I need to further polish my skills. need to increase my riyaz time.
BTW congratulate me , I was chosen as the first runnerup for BDC IDOL ie Bangalore Idol (same in the lines of Indian IDOL) i missed by .5 points!!!!!

On No Internet Access at the Workplace
Yeah No Internet access in my work place!!! and well I am working in an MNC!!!
And why ? you will ask..
Well Client Mandates...
Actually our network traffic is being monitored. Site accesses are being restricted that tht includes Webmail, Music and any site they take a fancy of. Even access to our own company sites are restricted!!! Our Client is paranoid!!!
But yeah I do understand. So what if I am a user of Malicious intents. I know of my team mates who are wicked.....
I guess if I was a CIO, i would have restricted Internet access too security being one reason and then ofcourse wastage being the other reason.
SO am I complaining? well.. yes and no!! Come one boss I am human!!!

On a holiday in the middle of the week
this week started well..
why? the republic day holiday fell this week and was on thursday. And what else lightens the heart than the thought of a holiday in a work week.
I stared the week with that happy thought and hence my monday wasnt depressing as other mondays.
but then the holiday got over yesterday. :(
Today is Friday and well tomorrow is weekend (Thank GOD!! and HURRAH for that .)
Yet now the heart is a bit depressed, the much anticipated holiday is over.
Its still a long time for the next one.....
But thank god for small mercies, the weekend is near.
If we had taken today off, we could have gotten a whole 4 days of holidays.. we didnt plan well. Ah... and hence had to forsake 4 glorious , fun filled days. but hey m not grumbling on that
Rest is much needed and rest we will...
