Pratham the Pious one

Yes, we would call him that now.

Firstly neither Krishna or me are too much into piousness. We belive in GOd and celebrate all the festivals. We know our shlokas and mantras. But we surely are not the type who do all the fasts and celebrate every tithi that comes in the hindu calendar.

But Pratham is showing signs of godliness!!:-)

It all started when he saw a foto of Goddess Durga at Mali Maushi's place. This one had the godess replendesant in her glory, perched on her tiger and carrying all weapons and items in her numerous hands. So Intrigued was he that he insisted on knowing more about her and well i told him the story of Mahishasura and Durga. He loved it sooo much that he was asking to hear that story and was also reciting it to every person who showed interest.

His Durga Story recital has become a rave in the family. Cousin, grandparents' favourite request is "pratham tell me the story of durga". I have captured it here, you can hear it too.

The next in line is Shlokas. Usually while bathing him, i say the shlokas. But now he insists on specifically learning them. Of course I am more than ready. Its such a heartening sight to see him with hands folded in reverance , standing in front of the POoja Mantap reciting all the shlokas. At the time of writing this post he can clearly recite the folowing shlokas

GururBrahma
Shantakaram
Gangecga Yamunechaiva
Yaa Kundendu Tushar (A HOT FAVOURITE) [> herevers all goddesses saraswati included
Vakratunda mahakaay
Durga Arati
Karagre Vasate Lakshmi
Krishnaay Vasudevaay
Shubham Karoti
Divya Divya DIpatkaar.

I will slowly introduce bhagvadgita and the like...

He loves visiting temples and usually when we move out on weekends, a trip to a nearby temple is a must. You should see him pray with his hands folded and actually recite all the shlokas. People are usually amused at this sight. Some actually asked him to say aloud and yes he humoured them.

Pratham basically is a very obidient child. He does childish mischief but is otherwise very disciplined, non violent and well a gooood boy. Nowadays he has taken to asking me "Is Durga Devi happy with me? Am i a good Boy?" I feel soooo touched... My Answer usually is -> Of course!!! My Baby you are the best. She is veryyyy happy with you.

If at the rare times he decides to be naughty, all i need to say is "hey Durga Devi will not like this!!!" and welllll the naughtiness stops right there!

Hows that for quality disciplining?
